The best way forward would be to arrange an initial session, where we can explore your situation and also how I can help you. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask any questions about the counselling that you need to. From this session, you will get a sense of how I work and whether I am the right counsellor for you; I believe that the quality of the relationship between client and counsellor is incredibly important and so it is worth doing a bit of research to find a counsellor who you feel comfortable with and who is a good fit for you and your needs. If you would like to arrange an initial session, please get in touch through the contact form on the ‘contact’ page, email or phone. I respond to all enquiries within twenty four hours.
How long do sessions last and how often will we meet?
Sessions last fifty minutes and will ideally be weekly. We can discuss the number of sessions in our initial session, as this will depend on the issues that you would like to explore and your desired outcomes of therapy.
How much is a session?
My standard fee is £70 per session (some concessions are available for counselling students and longer term clients, please feel free to ask about this when contacting me). Payment is by cash, cheque or bank transfer.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
I have a 48 hour cancellation policy otherwise the full fee for the session is applicable.
How do you ensure ethical practice?
I am a registered member of BACP and I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice. I maintain continuous professional development activities in through workshops and training to ensure that my skills and knowledge are kept up to date. I also assess my practice through regular independent supervision.
Is everything we talk about confidential?
Counselling is fully confidential. However, if I had serious concern for your safety or the safety of another person, then statutory law and the BACP ethical framework would require me to breach confidentiality. I will always seek to discuss this with you first directly. We can talk about this further when contracting our work together in the initial session.
